ABB & ATEX
As an ABB value provider, MKE engage with their customers with the possibility of performing energy surveys onsite on their equipment. As technology improves and OEMs often build to a budget rather than optimising output there is constant opportunity to reduce the impact. MKE are recognised by ABB as an ATEX/EX approved repairer. A specific but critical skill that the trained engineers provide to further increase the service offering.
A range of possibilities
MKE capabilities include but are not limited to, power generation, machining including spiral welding, the repair of AC/DC electric motors and alternators, including full rewind of all necessary components, vpi processing and overhaul. MKE also provide load and function testing, conformance testing, the supply of new electric motors, gearbox repairs, the supply of new gearboxes, pump repairs and the supply of new pumps. Their services include managing and delivering project work, various types of site work such as confined space, working at height, vibrations analysis, laser alignment, thermography and dynamic balancing.
An impressive facility
MKE Sittingbourne boasts one of the largest machining facilities of its kind in the SE. The range of equipment includes slotters, vertical borer, horizontal borer, surface grinder, radial drills, spiral welding, welding, hydraulic presses up to 200-ton, CNC milling and turning, lathe and mills. This allows them to manufacture, refurbish and assemble an incredible range of direct and supporting material for all the services delivered at MKE.
About MKE Engineering Group
Founded by Colin Savage in 1955 MKE. Mid Kent Electrical Engineering began life repairing small electric motors for the surrounding area. The original workshop was opened in Detling and was ideally situated to serve the developing paper industry in the area. Seventy years on the company is owned and guided by the latest Savage family generation and in 2024 celebrated the most successful year in their history.
